The Miami Dolphins Can Make a Run For The Lombardi Trophy

Personally, I have never been high on them; however, this year, I think they could make a run at winning one of the most challenging trophies to acquire in all of professional sports: the Lombardi trophy. #miamidolphins #NFL #LombardiTrophy #superbowl

Over the past decade in the NFL, the Miami Dolphins have never really been considered a contender. They have always been an average team and have an occasional season where their future looks bright and then they return to mediocrity in the following season. Personally, I have never been high on them; however, this year, I think they could make a run at winning one of the most challenging trophies to acquire in all of professional sports: the Lombardi trophy.

They have had a phenomenal offseason, thus far, signing players like Terron Armstead, Tyreek Hill, Connor Williams, Cedrick Wilson, Raheem Mostert, and Chase Edmonds (just to name the key guys). #TerronArmstead #TyreekHill #ConnorWilliams #CedrickWilson #RaheemMostert #ChaseEdmonds
The AFC is loaded with gifted players and there are going to be a lot of fan bases crushed by their team missing out on the playoffs with their talented roster. But, the Miami Dolphins fandom has nothing to worry about. They have had a phenomenal offseason, thus far, signing players like Terron Armstead, Tyreek Hill, Connor Williams, Cedrick Wilson, Raheem Mostert, and Chase Edmonds (just to name the key guys). They not only signed all this offensive depth, but they got the right coaching staff to compliment that speedy and star-studded offense now. They hired Mike McDaniel who has taken the 49ers offense to the postseason and made deep runs in the playoffs with them with sub-par quarterback play. He is put in a similar situation, now, with an average quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa. However, Tagovailoa will succeed in this system and live up to the hype of being the fifth pick in the 2020 draft.

Tua has, statistically speaking, the most explosive offense in the league with Waddle, Hill, and Mohstert. Mohstert and Hill, according to Next Gen Stats, have been part of the top four fastest ball carriers since 2016. They also have Waddle, who ranked as the sixth fastest ball carrier this past season in 2021. Not only do they have speed, but they also have that big body pass catcher with amazing hands in Mike Gesicki at tight end and a solid run game where any of their top four running backs can make an impact. The quarterback on the Dolphins has all the tools in the world to succeed. He just needs to be smart with the football and not force any big plays down the field like he has done in the past. In the worst-case scenario, if Tua does not work out, they have Teddy Bridgewater. Bridgewater is not great by any means, but he is a smart and serviceable QB in the unlikely event the former first-rounder, Tua, does not pan out in head coach Mike McDaniel’s new system.

Their defense is already pretty good with an amazing secondary, a good defensive line with good depth, and an average linebacker group. They finally were able to compliment that defense by prioritizing the offensive side of the ball this offseason. This team is talented and I believe they have the tools to win it all, but It is just a matter of staying healthy and being able to coordinate their talent and execute their game plans.

I am certainly not a Miami Dolphins fan, but I truly believe a special team has been built in Florida that will be fun to watch.
