Power Rankings Following the Draft

Following another wild offseason, the league has been drastically shaken up. These rankings are based on the rosters each team built over the past few months and the potential they have going into this season. Let me know what you think of my rankings. What surprised you about them and which team do you predict will exceed or not meet expectations?

  1. Kansas City Chiefs:

The Chiefs are coming off a Super Bowl and have only improved this past offseason. They may have not made any eye opening moves like some other teams but as long this team has Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and Travis Kelce, they are going to be my number one team.

  1. Philadelphia Eagles:

Howie Rossman somehow greatly improved an already championship caliber team once again. They got more firepower on the defensive line by snagging Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith, replaced Miles Sanders for cheap with Deandre Swift and Rashad Penny, added more depth into their secondary with Greedy Williams and Keelo Ringo, and signed Jalen Hurts to a massive contract. I don’t see a team in the NFC beating the Eagles at full strength.

  1. Cincinnati Bengals:

This team lost a huge part of the secondary with the departures of Jessie Bates III and    Vonn Bell, but they retained everyone else on that side of the ball and added Myles Murphy to bolster the defensive line. They also gave Joe Burrow more protection by signing Orlando Brown Jr. which makes this offense right up there with KC. If you look at this roster on paper, it may not be as good as SF or Buffalo, but this is the only team that I feel can confidently beat the Chiefs in the AFC.

  1. San Fransico 49ers:

The 49ers have the all-around best roster in the league. Their top 2, and they’re not 2, defense in the league only got better with the addition of top free agent, Javon Hargrave. Offensively, there is no other team more talented than them, but there is one giant question mark: the quarterback situation. This team is so good that they don’t need a top QB to be great, but that will distinguish them from another NFC Championship loss to a Super Bowl winning team. Could it be Trey Lance, Sam Darnold, or the best Mr. Irrelevant of all time if he is healthy (Brock Purdy)?

  1. Buffalo Bills:

I’m giving Josh Allen and the Bills one final chance this year. This may be the most frustrating and fun team to watch because of how great of a team this is but they always seem to fall victim to Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes’ heroics in the playoffs. Right now, there isn’t a single hole on this team. They drafted well and just made Josh Allen’s job 10 times easier by getting Dalton Kincaid and O’Cyrus Torrence, both first-round talents in the draft, and just adding depth in all aspects by getting Poona Ford, Taylor Rapp, and Damien Harris. Sean McDermott has built something special, but can they stay consistent on the field and live up to the hype?

  1. Baltimore Ravens:

At first, the Ravens' offseason was pretty stagnant for the most part. However, the Ravens flipped things around by signing Odell Beckham Jr., drafting Zay Flowers, and then retaining former MVP and star QB Lamar Jackson. I don’t see why this team can’t compete with the Bengals, Chiefs, and Bills like some people are saying because I view them to be in the same tier, especially after this offseason.

  1. Dallas Cowboys:

America’s Team always gets all the hype year in and year out when they have somewhat of a decent team. This year though, I would buy into it. What’s not to like? They did nothing crazy over the past couple of months but they have one of the best defenses and their offense has talent. Dak Prescott's consistency, the injury to Tony Pollard, and the departure of Ezekiel Elliot aren't being talked about enough as concerns but this team is still really solid.

  1. New York Jets:

I never want to doubt an Aaron Rodgers led team, so for my own sanity, I’ll be generous and rank them here. The Jets might pull a Jets at the end of the day, but there is no doubt about how Joe Douglas revamped this team and the great job he has done over the past couple of seasons. A lot of people doubting Rodgers after last season, but if there is one thing I‘ve learned about watching sports as a whole is to never doubt greatness because the best of the best always prove people wrong.

  1. Miami Dolphins:

For some reason, I have a lot of faith in this team. The front office didn’t have the most active offseason, but they still acquired All-Pro CB Jalen Ramsey and resigned key players. A word that comes to mind when I think about this team is explosiveness. The speed they have is insane and the potential to be great and compete with the rest of the league is also there. Miami’s success all relies on Tua and if he can stay healthy. If he can’t do that, there might be another QB taking the signal caller job next year.

  1. Seattle Seahawks:

Any Pete Carrol led team will always be ready to compete. This is the best Seahawks team in a while and I would not be surprised to see them exceed expectations once again with the offseason they have had. They took care of most of their needs except for the horrible interior defensive line spot. However, their secondary is the most talented in the league now and their offense could be top 3 in the league depending on how Geno plays.

  1. Los Angeles Charges:

  1. Detroit Lions:

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars:

  1. Carolina Panthers:

  1. Denver Broncos:
